The Carlisle Cross-Country teams headed to Hershey for the State Championship Meet this past weekend.  Our girls' team, who had pulled off a minor miracle just qualifying one week ago, passed another rival Cumberland Valley and tied for 15th place! Ana Bondy led the way for the Lady Herd with a bronze medal placing 3rd.  The girls following her across the line responsible for this incredible season were Elisabeth Bordner, Natalya Kennedy, Ellen Barwick, Mackenzie Mitchell, Ella Gatbonton, and Cora Cook.  Great season ladies!

On the boys' side we also finished tied, but this time for 10th and lost the tiebreaker so officially 11th. When you combine all classifications together, regardless, the boys were still the 11th place team in the entire State!  Leading the way were our now State medalists: Seth Reichenbach who placed 20th, and Kolbin Heberlig who placed 24th.  The rest of the boys following that duo were Luke Kaden, Hudson Focht, Vitor Santos, Denny Shank, and Evan Flickinger.  Great job boys!

The Carlisle Cross-Country teams were in action at the District 3 Cross-Country Championships this past weekend and posted some fantastic results!

On the boys' side Kolbin Heberlig was the individual runner-up, running 15:41 for 5k.  Seth Reichenbach was close behind in 5th place overall.  Getting it done on the back end of the scorers were Hudson Focht, Vitor Santos, and Luke Kaden.  Together they combined for a team score of 165 placing 2nd in the District and pushing themselves on to Hershey for the State Championships next week!

Not to be outdone, the girls' top District ranking through this entire season has been in the 11th/12th range.  Many expected that Ana Bondy would be, and now is, the individual District 3 Champion, yes, but the Lady Herd had more, much more to be proud of this weekend.  All 6 girls that followed their individual Champion across the line ran the best times of their lives and in the most important race.  When the dust settled, we had scored 253 points and slipped by Chambersburg's 255 for the final team spot to STATES!

Both teams advance to the State Championships and will represent Carlisle in Hershey this coming Saturday!

The Carlisle Cross-Country teams competed at the Mid-Penn Conference Championships over the weekend.  On the girls' side, Ana Bondy repeated as the Mid-Penn Champion individually and led the Lady Herd to another District III Championship berth.  The team placed 8th overall and also earning Mid-Penn All-Conference honors was medalist Natalya Kennedy who placed 29th.

On the boys' side the team pulled through with a strong 3rd place showing behind the two District 6 schools that are currently ranked 1st and 5th in Pennsylvania.  Leading the way for the Herd were Kolbin Heberlig and Seth Reichenbach who placed 4th and 5th respectively.  Wrapping up the team score were 3 more medalists who earned All-Conference honors: Luke Kaden, Vitor Santos, and Hudson Focht.  Way to go Herd!  2 weeks to the District Championships!

The Carlisle Cross-Country teams hosted one of the largest and most competitive invitationals on the East coast this past weekend, with 85 teams represented and 20 of those teams from outside of Pennsylvania.  Ana Bondy led the Lady Herd to a 13th place finish en route to running 17:48.  This is the fastest time ever by a Carlisle girl for a Cross-Country 5K!  Following Ana and contributing to the team score were Elisabeth Bordner, Natalya Kennedy, Ellen Barwick, and Mackenzie Mitchell.

On the boys side the Herd pulled off one of the best team performances in school history placing 3rd overall.  Only State College and La Salle College HS, which are defending State Champions and State Runners-up, pulled clear of our Carlisle boys.  Leading the way for the Herd were again Seth Reichenback and Kolbin Heberlig who both broke 16 flat.  Hudson Focht, Vitor Santos, and Luke Kaden all ran under 17 flat to earn the team's podium finish!

The Carlisle Cross-Country teams were in action over the weekend at a preview of the District 3 Championship course.  Not all, but most District 3 teams took advantage of the opportunity to race the Championship course before we go there again at the end of next month looking for tickets to States.

On the girls' side the Lady Herd did not get a team score, but Ana Bondy claimed a huge win over some great competition.  She ran 18:04 on the course to pull away from her nearest competitor by 10 seconds.  This was a quality win over the 3rd, 4th, and 5th currently ranked girls in District 3!

On the boys' side there was even more success.  Kolbin Heberlig claimed the Invitational win with Seth Reichenbach not far back.  The powerful 1-2 finish led the Thundering Herd to a comfortable team title.  Following the duo across the finish line to claim the team win were Luke Kaden, Vitor Santos, and Hudson Focht, way to go boys!

The last day of the dual meet season came to an end at Cumberland Valley's new home course at their Mountain View Middle School on Tuesday, September 16th.  Central Dauphin was also there for a double-dual.  Ana Bondy led the way for the Herd and won the meet individually in a time of 19:27.  Our girls claimed 3 of the top 5 places overall, but CV's depth was too much to overcome further down the order.  In the end the Lady Herd earned a win 21-34 over Central Dauphin, but fell to the Lady Eagles 26-33.  Factoring in the scoring behind Ana were Elisabeth Bordner, Natalya Kennedy, Mackenzie Mitchell, and Ellen Barwick.  The girls end the dual meet season at 3-3 and will turn their focus to the post-season in October!

On the boys side it was a different story.  Had you merged the Cumberland Valley boys and Central Dauphin boys together as one team, the Herd still would have come out on top.  Carlisle placed 5 runners in the top 6 places overall en route to a pair of "Thundering" victories to close out their dual meet season.  Leading the way were the duo of Kolbin Heberlig and Seth Reichenbach, who were followed closely by Hudson Focht, Luke Kaden, Denny Shank, Evan Flickinger, and Vitor Santos who all affected the team scores.  In the end it was a 15-48 win over Central Dauphin and 18-45 over Cumberland Valley.  The Herd ends their dual season at 5-1.

Carlisle Cross-Country teams headed to Mifflin County for their first away dual meet of the 2025 season.  Chambersburg was also there for the double-dual.  Mifflin ended up resting their top boys for an upcoming meet on Friday, so we said thank you and had no issues with the rest of their boys team, coming out on top with a lopsided 15-49 win.  The Chambersburg boys returned 4 of their top-7 from a State Qualifying team last year, the same as we have.  Proving that Carlisle is deserving of our current District 3 #1 ranking, we throttled the Trojans by a score of 22-35.  Leading the way and going 1-2 in the meet were Seth Reichenbach and Kolbin Heberlig.  Hudson Focht, Luke Kaden, Denny Shank, Evan Flickinger, and Vitor Santos followed and all affected the team scoring.  The boys are now 3-1 on the dual meet season.

On the girls side, although Ana Bondy won the race, Chambersburg's depth was too much to overcome.  Natalya Kennedy placed 5th and was the only other member of the Lady Herd to break up Chamberburg's top 7. In what we thought would be a close meet with the Lady Huskies, our girls came through big and walked away with a convincing 22-35 win!  Factoring in the scoring behind Ana and Natalya were Ellen Barwick, Mackenzie Mitchell, Chloe Carden, Ikram Issakh, and Anna Schadler.  The girls' record now stands at 2-2.

Carlisle Cross-Country teams opened the dual meet season on Tuesday, September 2nd, hosting both State College and Central Dauphin East.  The defending State Champions from State College took care of business and downed the Thundering Herd by a score of 24-31.  Seth Reichenbach led the way for Carlise with an individual win, but then the little lions nabbed, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th to wrap up the team win.  The rest of the Herd scorers were Luke Kaden, Hudson Focht, Denny Shank, and Evan Flickinger.  In the process the Herd also picked up a win over CD East 15-47.  The boys are now 1-1 on the season.

On the girls side it was a similar story.  The State College team is currently ranked Top-5 in PA.  Ana Bondy won individually and was followed closely by Natalya Kennedy and Elisabeth Bordner, placing 3rd and 5th respectively.  The much larger school just had too much depth to overcome and took down the Lady Herd by a score of 27-32.  The girls did claim a win over CD East on the day 15-50 and the others affecting the team score were Ellen Barwick, Mackenzie Mitchell, Chloe Carden, and Cora Cook.  The girls are also now 1-1 on the dual meet season.
